Greatness & Wonders: Estense Music Festival

Where: in the most suggestive historical places of Modena, Sassuolo, Vignola, Ferrara and in the mountainous areas of Zocca, Pavullo and Montese

The Festival of Ancient and Baroque Music was born in 1998 on the anniversary of the transfer of the Este court from Ferrara to Modena (1598).

In particular, we remember Duke Francesco II d'Este (1662 - 1694), who was a great patron and promoter of the arts, even those considered "minor" such as music, and of an intense cultural activity aimed at consolidating the status of the city of Modena as capital.

During the duchy of Francesco II d'Este, Modena established itself as a starting and landing point for several composers of great importance.

The Festival was awarded the 28th Abbiati Prize from Music Critics as “best initiative of 2008”.

Grandezze&Meraviglie, now in its 22nd edition, offers not only concerts but also various collateral activities, such as conferences, concert-lessons, meetings.
